H.-U. Habermeier Hanns-Ulrich Habermeier received his PhD degree from University Stuttgart 1974. After serving as Scientist at the Max-Planck-Institute for Metals Research, Stuttgart from 1974-1978 he joined the IBM Thomas Watson Research Center 1978 as Visiting Scientist and got appointed as Head of Scientific Services Technology at the Max-Planck-Institute for Solid State Research, Stuttgart, 1980. His scientific interest focuses on physics and technology aspects of solid state thin films with emphasis on complex functional ceramic materials, interfaces, superconductivity, magnetism and thermoelectricity. He serves the science community as member of EMRS, MRS, IUMRS, DPG and ESAS by taking officer positions (President EMRS 1998-1999, IUMRS treasurer 200-2002) and being member of the Executive Committee of EMRS since 1995.These activities generated strong interests in science related policy especially interfacing science education, research and economy. On his scientific credit are more than 360 papers in refereed journals with a total of citations exceeding 3200 (h=30).
